Deb BartletteDeb is the Vice-President, Academic and Student Services at Yukon College.  Formerly she was Dean of Applied Arts at Yukon College and prior to that worked at University of the Fraser Valley and Simon Fraser University.  Deb has a lifetime of association with distributed learning, beginning in the mid-90s when she laddered a diploma into a degree through Open University in BC, in the days when materials came in ‘pizza boxes’ and papers were sent via snail mail.  Thanks to the ability to access post-secondary education at a distance, she went on to complete two Master’s degrees, one in Distance Education done via distance at Athabasca University.   Deb completed her doctorate in Educational Leadership at SFU in 2005. Her work focused on education for social justice.  “I see online and distributed learning as key to accessibility and thus it is important that we all do our distributed learning as well as possible”.  Deb is an Adjunct Professor of Education at SFU and a Visiting Graduate Professor in the Centre for Distance Education at AU.  She does some teaching at AU in the very courses she took herself.
